Walk for Life West Coast – Welcome!

Dr. Kimberly Henkel, founder of Springs of Love, spoke at the Walk for Life West Coast in San Francisco, on January 20, 2024. This year marked the 20th Anniversary of the Walk for Life West Coast, 20 years of standing for the littlest and most vulnerable among us. Join Springs of Love in our mission to educate and equip Catholics to discern and live out the pro-life call to foster and adopt. Say “yes” to helping vulnerable children!

Springs of Love founder Dr. Kimberly Henkel speaks ahead of the Walk for Life West Coast, San Francisco’s largest pro-life event. Kimberly joins the event on January 20, 2024, to share her own story of fostering and adopting her four children. She encourages us all to say “yes!” to God’s call for us to support foster and adoptive families.

Fostering Love Teams

Sadly, about 50% of foster families stop fostering after one year. However, the retention rate increases to 90% when those families are supported by a care team in their community.

“My whole strength lies in prayer and sacrifice; these are my invincible arms; they can move hearts far better than words.” - St. Therese of Lisieux

May your prayers, fasts, and actions this Lent show others the path to the cross.

We pray for children in the foster system; for the families that take them in; for the birth families who are working to bring their children back into their lives; and for all those who are discerning a call to foster care.

We pray for children who have been adopted; for their families; and for the birth parents who are unable to raise them.

We pray that ALL children feel the unconditional love of a family and the support of a community, and know how treasured and loved they are by God.

Are YOU thinking about fostering or adoption? Our Novena for Discernment might be a great prayer to offer up this Lenten season.

Discernment about anything is an ongoing, loving conversation with the Lord, and that’s especially true when considering fostering and adoption.

Our Novena for Discernment offers 9 days of prayer and reflection, plus some questions for you to consider during your conversation with God.

Make sure to check out the NEW PDF of the prayer, now available to print or download!

“During Lent, let us find concrete ways to overcome our indifference.” - Pope Francis

Need a CONCRETE way to get into the spirit of Lent this year?

Try praying the Novena Prayer to Saint Joseph for those affected by foster care: https://www.springsoflove.org/novena-prayer-to-saint-joseph

Or contact a local foster agency to find out what kinds of donations they need right now!

May God bless your Lenten journey.

NEW on our blog this month: “Fostering Culture”

Foster mom Hannah strives to teach her Native foster daughter about tribal identity and culture, despite having a completely different background herself.

Is culture something that can be taught? Is it enough just to love her?
